Linux 2.6.21.1 e 2.6.20.10

We (the -stable team) are announcing the release of the 2.6.21.1 kernel.
This release has two bugfixes for networking issues that should cause all users of ipv4 or ipv6 to upgrade to this version.

I'll also be replying to this message with a copy of the patch between 2.6.21 and 2.6.21.1

The updated 2.6.21.y git tree can be found at:

We (the -stable team) are announcing the release of the 2.6.20.10 kernel.
This release has two bugfixes that fix the fixes that were in 2.6.20.8 and 2.6.20.9. We are sorry for the constant stream of releases, but these are security issues and as such, sometimes it is better to err on the side of quicker updates rather than an expanded window of vulnerability.

Many thanks go out to the networking kernel developers who resolved these issues faster than seemed imaginable.

Anyone who uses ipv4 or ipv6 and a 2.6.20 based kernel release is strongly encouraged to upgrade.

I'll also be replying to this message with a copy of the patch between 2.6.20.9 and 2.6.20.10.

21 anni esatti dalla catastrofe di Chernobyl => Linux 2.6.21

Nella mailing list del kernel in risposta all'annuncio ufficiale del rilascio del kernel Linux 2.6.21 "qualcuno" ci ricorda che questo rilascio è avvenuto esattamente a 21 anni dal disastro di Chernobyl:

Today, 26 april, is the *21*'th anniversary of nuclear explosion at Chernobyl's station (ex USSR).
And linux 2.6.*21* is released. Nice!

L'avranno fatto apposta o è pura coincidenza?
Comunque speriamo porti bene! :)

Nuovo, ma scassato, server Git dedicato per Kernel.org

Kernel.org ha un nuovo server Git dedicato: un HP DL380G2 che dal 2001 al 2005 costituiva il loro unico server.
Il sopracitato server nonostante, la vecchiaia, ed il trattamento speciale dei peggiori trasportatori mai esistiti, e già in funzione.
Vedendo le immagini di come è arrivato il pacco, mi viene da gridare al miracolo!
Il server ha il telaio completamente storto. Come se ci fosse passato sopra un camion ....

La pausa di "riflessione" che mi sono preso per decidere se mandare avanti questo blog oppure no è finita.

Ho convertito il blog alla nuova versione di blogger.com (ex beta), gli ho cambiato la grafica (ora stupenda), e ho modificato i banner di adsense (Messaggio subliminale: "Speriamo che qualcuno prima o poi ci clicchi , naturalmente solo se ci trova qualcosa di interessante ...").

In questi mesi in cui sono stato in silenzio oltre ad ammazzarmi di lavoro, ho avuto il tempo di notare alcuni progetti interessanti.
Kerneler - Piccolo script che permette di semplificare notevolmente la compilazione del Kernel su distribuzioni debian-based.
Xajax - Una libreria in php per creare facilmente applicazioni in Ajax.
